Chrome OS

The days of “Blue-Screen” are over…. Praise the Google!!!

Chrome OS, Google’s newly announced computer operating system is coming and promises to revolutionize notebooks and other low-powered machines. Chrome OS is a small, fast-booting platform and its only purpose is to run a browser and from there all the Google apps and other web services on the web i.e. Avery, Google Docs and Gmail . Why should you even thing about using Chrome Os? Your Laptop has an operating system and works fine…right? Actually ….NO…it doesn’t work fine. Here is why you want Chrome OS

Heres a video. Have a look

Speed – We all love to go fast!!

Windows 7 is faster than Vista on a notebook, meaning: it actually works on a notebook. Chrome OS on the other hand is designed to run on low-powered Atom and ARM processors and it only utilizes web-based applications that don’t require that much power on the client end, so it should be faster and it will be small. Google promises boot times measured in seconds, not minutes, so battery life should also improve.

Cost - It will be Cheaper

Notebooks aren’t cheap. But still a large chunk of the cost is made up of a Windows license. Ever wondered why the Linux versions of notebooks cost less...Its Microsoft tax!!!! Yes my good man, M$ taxes the “hell” out of us. Having said that, Chrome OS is based on Linux and will, like most Google products,  be free, bringing the price of a notebook down by 10 or 15 percent.

Compatibility - Chrome like to make friend

Google has said that: “Users don’t want to spend hours configuring their computers to work with every new piece of hardware, or have to worry about constant software updates.” The biggest problem with running anything other than Windows is drivers. With Chrome OS you only have Chrome OS on your notebook. If you don’t have any programs installed  then you don’t need drivers. It’s as easy as that. No programs, no problems. Everything is stored on Google servers and you can access it at any time from anywhere. You only need a internet connection.

Portability

Notebooks are meant to be portable. At home or in the office a bigger computer is always better but when traveling, a portable notebook is best. Swapping between desktop and notebook is a mission. With Chrome, you can bet that all of Google’s services like Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa and so on, will be built-in and have offline access via Google Gears. If you are a good “Google-en” (Google Citizen) and use all these services, you’ll never have to worry about having all your data with you, whether you have a net connection or not.

By the way I just coined “Google-en” so don’t go nicking it!!!!

New Applications

With its web services, Google has been slowly duplicating everything that we can do locally on our computers, well….almost. There are a few things that Google can’t do yet, most notably M$ office. But in time we will start seeing new office applications becoming available online.
Google may even produce its own office application or just buy it from M$ after their market value has dropped. One thing is sure, though: If Google can put out a whole OS that is as clean, fast and focused as its individual web products, then Chrome OS could be a revolution. A free, user focused revolution that could be making Microsoft extremely uncomfortable in future!!!

The king is dead!!!! VIVA LA GOOGLE!!!!
